Lowell Hawkins, NCARB, LEED AP
Operations Manager

An architect for 10 years, a management consultant for five, and an operations executive and consultant for another 10, Lowell brings enthusiasm, a wealth of industry knowledge, experience and perspective, as well as a balance of left and right brained capabilities to PYATOK’s operations and business management. In his early professional career, he was responsible for the design, production, and construction phases of high-profile commercial, institutional and industrial projects while working for SmithGroup in Washington, DC. After riding out the recession of the early 90s in business school, he combined his architectural knowledge with his MBA as a management consultant serving the design and construction industries. Following several years of having his own business, he re-entered the architecture world, where he gained additional exposure to multi-family residential architecture.

Lowell has donated his time and early career construction skills to three Habit For Humanity blitz builds over the years, so with several options from which to choose when he reached a logical crossroad in his career, Lowell elected to re-direct his breadth or architectural and management skills to a firm whose missioned he admired and whose meaningful work makes a difference in the lives of deserving people who might otherwise go underserved.

Lowell earned a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia, a Master of Architecture from Princeton University, and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He is a licensed architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia, holds LEED AP accreditation, and maintains membership in NCARB. As a capable trim carpenter, Lowell enjoys spending his weekends making improvements to his home and garden.
