In August 2010, students entering UC Merced were greeted by a new residential facility designed by Pyatok Architects. The Summits housing complex welcomed 360 freshmen into double, triple, and quad rooms. The two residence halls frame a number of dynamic outdoor community spaces and include facilities for conferences, study and tutorial rooms, lounges, a dance room, and a deli with shaded pavilion seating. In keeping with UC Merced’s commitment to sustainability, the complex is well on its way to being certified LEED Gold.
