Affordable Housing

This BART-related project occupies a spacious site with a backdrop of mature trees. Views to the hills beyond El Camino Real are framed by the end buildings of the clusters of townhomes nearest the street, and benches have been located in the central open space to take advantage of the views. The central park also has a large lawn and play equipment for younger children. The communal vegetable garden was an integral part of the site design.

The program allowed for the dwelling units to be two-story townhomes on grade, each with a gated patio. The residents have personalized their patios through extensive use of flowering plants and patio furniture. Because the density of children living at Greenridge is very high, a Computer Room for after-school use was included in the Community Center.
