Betsy brings over 30 years of experience to her role as Principal at Pyatok Architects, with a special
interest in historic rehabilitation, senior housing and sustainable design. Under her leadership as
Director of Pyatok’s Sustainable Practice Committee and a Certified GreenPoint Rater, the firm is
developing sustainability measures and metrics uniquely suited to affordable high-density residential
development. Betsy served as Principal-in-Charge on The Altenheim Senior Housing Phase I, an
award-winning historic rehabilitation project in Oakland, which was recognized by the California
Preservation Foundation in 2007. This project also allowed her to study how to maximize the design of
very small senior housing units. A recent presentation at the Housing California conference reviewed
how the advent of sustainable building products and techniques has changed the design of affordable
housing.
