LATEST NEWS John Fox Place Named Affordable Housing Development of the Year November 08, 2024

On Friday, November 1, the Washington Chapter of NAIOP, a commercial real estate group, named John Fox Place its 2024 Affordable Housing Development of the Year! The announcement accompanied 20 other project awards as part of NAIOPWA’s Night of the Stars Gala, held in Bellevue, WA. The awardees represent "innovation and excellence across office, retail, industrial, hospitality, and multifamily development in Washington’s Puget Sound region."

"Each finalist project," NAIOPWA explains, "was evaluated for impact on the community, market adaptability, ingenuity, and local contributions." NAIOPWA's Affordable Housing Development of the Year award recognizes 100% income qualified housing projects that exemplify "design, construction, and development excellence while creating lasting social, economic and environmental impacts" and that address the Pacific Northwest's housing crisis. A jury of peers identified finalists in each category, following interviews with the project teams; winners were determined by popular vote.

We are honored by this award, and honored to have worked with nonprofit developers Low Income Housing Institute, builders Exxel Pacific, local architects HEWITT, and a talented project team to complete the family-oriented, 104-unit housing project. Since opening in Seattle last year, John Fox Place has become home to 200 residents including over 50 children and several formerly homeless asylum-seeking families, and contributes a transformational presence along Aurora Ave N on a site previously used for industrial parking and storage.
