LATEST NEWS Landmark SF Sunset District affordable housing breaks ground June 28, 2024

On Wednesday, June 26, project partners, local leaders, and community members gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the 2550 Irving affordable housing project in San Francisco’s Sunset District. The project is a collaboration with Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corp (TNDC) and San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD). 2550 Irving will deliver 90 homes for households earning between 25-75% of the area median income - with 22 homes for families exiting homelessness and 15 homes for formerly homeless veterans - within walking distance of Irving Street businesses, MUNI light rail, and Golden Gate Park.

MOHCD writes, "In the past decade, the Sunset District has lost a disproportionately high number of affordable rental homes with too few new units being built, even though the district is home to many working families. This project aims to prevent families from being displaced by increasing the amount of family-friendly affordable homes in the Sunset and help families with low incomes thrive with stable housing and onsite resources."

2550 Irving is slated to open next year.
