Lu-Ming brings to PYATOK a design background that balances architecture and urban planning. She has cultivated an interest in architecture since childhood and in particular from a memorable home repair and renovation. She dovetailed this early awareness in collaborate placemaking with her first professional experience in Taipei working on large-scale public and civic projects. Lu-Ming reveres housing design for delivering to people a sense of security, stability, and expression, in addition to general comfort and functionality. She considers the process of balancing that complex residential sensibility, and mixing it with other urban-scale uses, as one of the most intriguing aspects of architecture. And she does not take lightly architecture’s responsibility for community and environmental impact.

Lu-Ming earned a Master of City Planning from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. She opted to stay in the Bay Area after her studies, inspired by its diverse and tolerant culture, the opportunity it creates for self-expression and discovery, and the proximity of urbanism to natural landscapes, hiking, and kayaking.
