The first bold contemporary building built in the historic Old Oakland neighborhood, 901 Jefferson reinterprets the area's Victorian architecture through the use of tall ground floors and projecting vertical bays in a palette of ribbed metal siding, large windows, and deep projecting sunscreens. The building steps down towards adjacent Lafayette Square Park and westerly residential neighborhood, creating a transition from the dense downtown commercial district. The ground floor podium accommodates streetfront lofts and double-height parking stackers. Four stories of flats rise above the podium, constructed with the ConXtech steel moment frame system with panelized infill metal stud framing. The combination of an all-steel-and-concrete structure with commercial grade exterior materials results in an exceptionally durable, high-quality building.
