Under construction in downtown Santa Rosa, the 2.3-acre Caritas Village will be a transformative campus of services and housing solutions for currently and formerly homeless residents. The Catholic Charities Homeless Services Center and Family Support Centers, occupying 100-year-old structures, will be replaced and expanded with Caritas Center, while Caritas Homes will provide permanent supportive housing units for very- and extremely-low-income households.
In the first phase of construction, the three-story, 48,000 s.f. Center will consolidate Catholic Charities’ support services and administrative offices while expanding onsite offerings, to nearly double the capacity of the current services and support centers. Emergency housing will increase to serve 40 families, transitional housing will allow for up to 10 participants, and post-acute medical respite care will accommodate up to 38 individuals. A day center will provide: dignity services, an OSHPD 3-certified medical clinic, and expanded office space for homelessness and housing services; educational spaces, a dining room, and commercial kitchen for the Family Support Center; and a respite chapel.
This transit-oriented development is proximate to public transit, within walking distance of the Second Street Transit Mall, new SMART train station, and downtown amenities.
