The Berkeley Design Advocates, a volunteer group of planning and design professionals and civic advocates, named The Laureate as one of five recipients of their 2021-2022 Design Award.

The organization aims “to make Berkeley a well-designed inclusive community,” including meeting to discuss forthcoming projects and recognition of built accomplishments. The group launched their 15th biennial design awards program in December 2022, and celebrated the awardees at a reception on April 17th at the Aurora Theater in Berkeley. Nominated projects were evaluated by an independent jury “based on excellence in urban planning and architecture, innovative and creative design solutions, and preservation of historic structures.”
