Alta Madrone was among 14 “Top Real Estate Projects of 2021” named by North Bay Business Journal (NBBJ) at a virtual celebration on December 8. The annual award recognizes exemplary projects built that year, and covers a “wide cross section of geography as well as businesses and organizations.”

In their December 20 feature on the project and project developer Satellite Affordable Housing Associates, NBBJ acknowledged the broad popularity of Alta Madrone, despite initial resistance to that level of density on 2 vacant acres just outside the City of Sonoma. The 48 apartments were fully rented within weeks of completion in late May. The surrounding community and city, after a robust engagement process, successfully worked through design concerns, and we achieved an appropriate scale and tone while still creating a significant contribution to the area’s affordable housing inventory. NBBJ also noted the care taken in the incorporation of site landscaping, amenities, and the project’s ongoing resident services.
