Last month, we joined EBALDC, Allied Housing/Abode Services, and dozens of project partners and West Oakland residents in celebrating the groundbreaking of the 100% affordable West Grand and Brush project.

The 59-unit project will be deeply affordable, serving families and those with special needs earning between 15% and 70% AMI, and will include 30 units dedicated to formerly homeless residents. The project will also include commercial and community spaces that will activate a neglected crossroad of West Oakland, Uptown, and Downtown Oakland, as well as resident amenities – including a podium courtyard, a top floor terrace, and 1:1 long-term bike parking – that will help activate residents. Through its siting, unit mix, and design strategies, West Grand and Bush targets offsetting community displacement and pursuing community health goals as part of EBALDC’s San Pablo Area Revitalization Collaborative, SPARC.

West Grand and Bush has begun demolition of the existing parking lot, and anticipates opening in Summer 2024. Learn more about the project here.
