Hinoki Apartments, a design collaboration between PYATOK and Seattle-based HEWITT, has been named a finalist by NAIOPWA for Affordable Housing Development of the Year. Completed earlier this year, Hinoki is part of a larger redevelopment of Yesler Terrace, Seattle’s first public housing project, led by Seattle Housing Authority. NAIOPWA is a Washington State-based commercial real estate development association.  

The recognition is part of NAIOPWA's annual Night of the Stars, identifying outstanding real estate developments, activities, and individuals. Named projects demonstrated the flexibility and ingenuity of the CRE community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, according to NAIOPWA’s website. Finalists also highlighted leadership in transit-oriented development (TOD), multi-family and supportive housing, and development in underutilized regions utilizing Opportunity Zone funding.

Finalists were evaluated for impact on the community, market adaptability, ingenuity, and local contributions. The winning Affordable Housing Development of the Year was Hobson Place in Seattle, announced at the Night of the Stars ceremony on Friday, November 4th.
